Frequently
Asked
Questions
What services do you provide for me postpartum?
I am here to serve the family as a whole! Here is what that can look like:
-
supporting you in whatever way you choose to feed your baby
-
answering questions & offering reassurance
-
making sure you can nap, shower, eat, be a human
-
helping with the transition for older siblings
-
providing you information for any necessary resources
-
light household chores & meal preparation
-
helping you learn how to successfully soothe your baby
-
take candids of you and your family on your phone
-
help set up healthy routines & managing appropriate expectations
When do postpartum services start and how long do they last?
Typically within a day or two of you arriving home, and can last anywhere from the first few weeks, all the way through the 4th trimester (12 weeks postpartum).
How does the schedule work?
Most sessions are 4 hours a day, with however many days per week you feel comfortable. We will schedule based off your expected due date and adjust from there!
We may start with 3-4 days a week for the first month, and as you gain more confidence and skills, move to 1-2 days a week.
It is all your preference & we work together to figure out what feels best to you!
What happens if my baby spends time in the NICU?
There are many ways I can support your family unit during a NICU stay and the transition home, if you so choose. I am honored to help families during this time period.
What doesn't a doula do?
A doula does not provide any medical assessments, examinations, or medical advice. I do not administer medication - over the counter or prescription - (including diaper cream), take temperatures, or weigh the baby.
I provide help with light household duties, but do not do any deep cleaning or super involved meal prep.
As a daytime doula, I am not a night nurse and do not provide any overnight care.
I am not solely responsible for the care of older children, although I do help with transitioning siblings into their role and small tasks as needed.
